Art Club
Grade level: 4th and 5th
Meeting Day/Time/Location: Thursday mornings 7:15 to 8:05. Fall session: 6 weeks October through November. Spring session: 8 weeks March through April.
Cost: There is a $20 fee for Art Club that can be paid on MyPaymentsPlus.
Description: Art Club is for students who LOVE art and want to expand their creativity. We will explore a variety of media, techniques, and concepts. Members will participate in local and national art contests, displays, exhibits, and service projects. Art Club membership is limited and students who are interested must complete the online application.

Chorus - 3rd and 4th Grade

Meeting Day/Time/Location: Tuesdays, September 17 through December 10 from 7:00 am to 8:10 am.

Description: This chorus is for 3rd and 4th grade students who have met the eligibility requirements with Mrs. Pledger. Students must be in good standing concerning conduct, have good rehearsal etiquette, match pitch, a positive attitude, and enjoy singing. This extra-curricular honorary group will be rehearsing and performing the Winter Musical. The performance will be on November 21, 2024 at 6:00 pm in the Mill Creek High School Theater.
Registration: Students submit applications through their homeroom teacher. Auditions are held in September.

First Lego League Challenge Team
Grade Level: 4th and 5th Selected Members

Description: FIRST LEGO League introduces science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to children ages 4-16* through fun, exciting hands-on learning. Participants gain real-world problem-solving experiences through a guided, global robotics program, helping today’s students and teachers build a better future together.
Registration: Currently Closed; 2024-2025 has been named. Applications for the 2025-2026 team will go out in April, 2025.

First Lego League Discover Robotics
Grade Level: Kindergarten and 1st Grade

Description: FIRST LEGO League Discover will challenge students to think like scientists and engineers. They will use the Engineering and Design Process to solve real world problems using Lego Bricks. The club is limited to 8 students.

Good News Club
Grade Level: 2nd - 5th
Meeting Day/Time/Location: Mondays 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Fall session: September 30 through December 9. Spring session: January 27 through March 24.

Description: Good News Club is an exciting, fun-filled Bible Club that meets after school, once a week for an hour and a half-complete with snacks, games, Bible stories, music, and fun.
All club members must have a Parent Permission Registration Form on file to attend. The club is adopted by a local church that provides a team of 10 trained & screened volunteers. Students will enjoy snacks, prizes, seasonal parties, high-energy songs, interactive games, and character-building stories.

Jr. Beta Club
Grade Level: 5th by invitation only
Meeting Day/Time/Location: 3:15 to 4:00 pm on the last Thursday each month from December to May

Description: The National Junior Beta Club is an honor organization that recognizes outstanding academic achievement, promotes strong moral character and social responsibility, encourages service to others, fosters leadership skills, and provides settings for students to develop strong interpersonal skills. Jr. Beta has a heavy focus on community service and involvement.
Registration: Invitation letters are sent home in November. Invitations are extended to students who have All A's and no more than one B on their first semester report card. They must also show exceptional behavior with all E's or S's in the conduct portion of their reports for the previous 2 semesters.

Kid Chess
Grade Level: K-5
Meeting Day/Time/Location: Wednesday after school; Kid Chess offers 2 sessions after school: 3:00-4:00 and 4:05-5:05. Join one hour or both!” Fall session: September 4 through December 4. Spring session: January 29 through April 30.
Description: Chess Club is facilitated by Kid Chess, Atlanta’s leading chess program for kids. Their coaches teach chess in a fun and educational environment. Children learn chess strategies and concepts through cartoons, demonstrations, and play! Regular chess, speed chess, and partner chess are just a few of the game variants played in club. Playing chess has proven to help enhance creativity, improve concentration, develop and expand critical thinking skills, boost memory and retention, and achieve superior academic performance.

Readers Rally
Grade Level: 4th and 5th
Meeting Day/Time/Location: 7:15 am - 8:10 am on Tuesdays. Club meets October through December. Competition team meets through February.

Description: Readers Rally is a fun, competitive event that focuses on reading! 4th and 5th grade will read 10 books to prepare for local and county competitions. At our meetings, we will read and discuss books. We'll also get to play with buzzers (like on Jeopardy!).
Members are expected to be positive and supportive contributors to the club. You must take an active role in participating! We do not limit the number of students who can participate, but we do hold local practice rounds to decide the final team of 10 students. This team goes to a county competition in February to determine which elementary school in Gwinnett is the best of the best!

Robotics Club
Grade Level: 2nd - 3rd (Limited spots per grade level)

Description: This club is open to all on a first-come, first-serve basis. Students get to work with Spike Prime Lego kits to build and program their own robots. The club runs for 6 weeks and is run by teachers and the Sparkbots competition team.

Safety Patrol
Grade Level: 5th Grade
Meeting Day/Time/Location: Monthly meetings - last Friday of the month during lunch
Shifts: Daily 7:45 am to 8:10 am and 2:40 pm to 3:10 pm.

Description: The PMES Safety Patrol help to monitor the hallways to help students stay safe during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal. Members work 1 week of duty per month either AM or PM. No special transportation required.

Student Council
Grade Level: 3rd-5th Classroom Elected Representative and Officers
Meeting Day/Time/Location: Meetings will be twice a month on Wednesdays from 7:30 am - 8:10 am
Description: Student Council provides students with the opportunity to be involved in leadership and service. Our student council shares students' views on issues involving our school, participates in community service activities, provides student leadership and role modeling, and represents the student population at our school. Student Council representatives also receive mentoring from Mill Creek High School TALON students during meetings throughout the year. Puckett's Mill Elementary is excited to offer students opportunities for civic engagement.
Registration: Students in grades 3-5 apply to be a representative for the classroom, while 5th grade students have the additional opportunity to run for a position in our Student Council Cabinet - including the office of president, vice president, corresponding secretary, and recording secretary. Elections are held in September. Classroom representatives are elected by their classroom peers. All students in grades 3-5 vote to elect the officer positions.

Yearbook Club

Description: The PMES yearbook is always one of the most cherished pieces of our school year! Yearbook Club members have the opportunity to capture all of the fun memories and events that take place. Members will take pictures, create layouts, learn photography, and help with the creation of our amazing yearbook.
Registration: Applications are available from homeroom teachers mid-September. New staff is selected shortly after that.
